Here's how the HSBC International Education Payment System will help you get your child's education plan rolling:

Pay online: Save yourself a trip to the bank by paying tuition through HSBC China mobile banking
Intelligent search-and-match functions: Search for the educational institute of your choice and retrieve the receiving account automatically
Multi-currency exchange: We support renminbi exchanges with USD, GBP, CAD, AUD and HKD, or other foreign currency exchange combinations
Easy payment status updates: You'll receive payment status notifications through your WeChat service account or the HSBC International Education Payment System on your Mobile Banking app
Low to no service fees: Eligible HSBC customers pay zero service fees, while Advance account holders pay a low per-transaction service fee of just USD7 or the equivalent in another currency¹

Operating channels: Log on to your HSBC China mobile banking

Payment account: Pay tuition and other relevant fees³ via your HSBC renminbi account² or foreign currency account

Service coverage: Currently available for more than 1,000 educational institutes in the US, UK, Canada, Australia and Hong Kong SAR

For a list of service fees, refer to the Tariff of Accounts and Services for Wealth and Personal Banking Business. Applicable to all HSBC Premier, Premier Elite, Global Private Banking and Advance customers who hold a valid identity card in mainland China; and also for Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR and Taiwan customers who are HSBC Premier, Premier Elite, Global Private Banking and Advance account holders with HSBC China.
Renminbi payment is only available within service hours (9.30am-6.00pm, Mondays to Fridays, excluding public holidays), but foreign currency payments may be made at any time. For special holiday arrangements, refer to our website or mobile banking notices. Please note, about the use of the annual facilitation quotas for foreign exchange purchase equivalent to USD50,000, please strictly comply with the regulatory requirements.
Accumulative daily limits equivalent to USD50,000 shall apply to relevant transactions (including FX purchases from renminbi accounts and direct payments from foreign currency accounts).

How to use the HSBC International Education Payment System

To purchase foreign currency for payments within your personal FX quota

1. Log on

HSBC International Education Payment System logon interface

Log on to HSBC China Mobile Banking → HSBC Global Transfer service → HSBC International Education Payment System.

2. Fill in your information

Enter 'Immediate payment' and select your educational institute. The corresponding receiving account will match automatically with the institute's name. Then, fill in all the payment information fields.

3. Verify information and confirm

Verify the information you've entered, then click 'Confirm' to submit your payment request.

4. Wait for payment to be completed

Upon payment confirmation, you'll receive details of the transaction and payment status in the payment record or by checking notifications from the International Education Payment System.

Frequently asked questions

You may log on to the HSBC International Education Payment System and check your payment status under 'Payment record'. We'll also send you a notice via the International Education Payment System's 'Homepage Notice', as well as the HSBC China WeChat service account (you should receive an advance notification from the 'HSBC China Customer Service' HSBC China WeChat service account). If you don't get a notification from the HSBC China WeChat service account, please log on to the HSBC International Education Payment System to follow up on your payment status.

When executing your payment instructions, we'll also send respective emails to you and the specified school to help enquire about and confirm your tuition fee payment.

We suggest you keep a record of the relevant notifications sent to you by the school concerning tuition fee payments. You may also directly contact the school regarding your payments.

You may log on to the HSBC Mobile Banking app/WeChat service account -> HSBC International Education Payment System -> Payment record to check the status of your International Education Payment System instructions. The following scenarios may occur as your payment status in your payment record:

Payment instructions have been processed - The time required to send and process payment instructions depends on the location of the school. You are strongly recommended to allow more than 2 weeks for this process. Please directly contact the relevant school to confirm if payment is confirmed.
Payment failed - The relevant payment has been returned to the foreign currency account corresponding to your name. If you've not opened a corresponding foreign currency account with us, please contact us for assistance. You may also re-submit your payment instructions.

If you've successfully used the HSBC International Education Payment System to complete your payment for the first time, we'll create a list of payees for you. When you make a payment the next time (to the same receiving institution for the same student), you only have to fill in the type of foreign currency, amount, and payment order number for that payment.

You are strongly recommended to allow more than 2 weeks to process remittances. In addition, your designated receiving institution may also require additional working days to process payment. If your payment deadline is approaching, we recommend you use other payment methods which are more direct.
